Meditative Drumming

Saturday 2/21 1:00 Pm - 3:00 Pm

at the Spiritual Life Center at 76 Sherman St in the West End of Hartford

(Please note the time has changed!)

Join Rick Taylor for nonverbal conversations in the language of Drum, as we detach from daily life and create our own unique musical world. Unrushed, unplugged. With time to relax and breathe, and space for each voice to be heard.

We’re a smallish group, with an emphasis on listening and being attuned to the other players. The musical equivalent of talking to each other, rather than at each other. Our goal is not to become master drummers, but to intuitively connect and entrain in rhythm by setting our egos aside, quieting minds, opening hearts, and playing our truth.

A variety of modes will be used as the spirit moves us: rhythmic, shamanic, trance, tribal, spacey. We may also tone, sing, and chant.

Bring your favorite non-amplified gear: djembes, frame/buffalo drums, bongos, shakers, singing bowls, tambourines, flutes/recorders. A few extra instruments will be available. Chairs provided.

There is a minimum $5 fee per person to cover the costs of operating this event, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Cost: $5
