There is a reason so many contemplative traditions have turned to sound as a doorway into presence. Tibetan singing bowls, Gregorian chant, the slow resonance of a gong, these are not background noise. They are invitations into the kind of stillness that spiritual directors know well but do not always know how to offer through means beyond words.
This three-hour workshop is designed for practicing spiritual companions and directors who are curious about what sound healing might bring to their work. Together, we will explore the foundations of sound as a healing practice, experience a guided sound treatment firsthand, and discuss practical ways to incorporate simple sound elements into spiritual direction sessions.
No musical background or experience with sound healing is needed. Just a willingness to listen, in every sense of the word.

Janet Kessenich M.M., is a workshop facilitator, sound healer,
and Akashic Records reader whose work facilitates a deeper
connection with one’s personal essence – your best self – so that
you can live and contribute from a fully integrated, empowered
place of alignment and wellbeing. She is the author of Music
Lessons for the Spirit, a collection of essays drawn from the
spiritual/life lessons she learned as a pianist. As a sound healer,
she brings the essence of music – calibrated vibration – into her
work with clients and workshop participants.
