Note: Hartford Seminary is now called Hartford International University for Religion and Peace.
We are pleased to announce a new and exciting collaboration between the Spiritual Life Center and Hartford Seminary.
The Spiritual Life Center has been providing spirituality programs and services, including spiritual direction (spiritual companioning), to individuals and groups for nearly 40 years. By means of these, we help people explore life’s meaning, discern choices they face, and choose ways to put their faith or spirituality into action for justice and peace. Associates of the Spiritual Life Center serve as “spiritual companions” to people who seek a deeper connection with God or the Divine. Those served include people from various religious traditions as well as those who are spiritually independent. The Center welcomes everyone, no matter where they are on their life journey.
For over a hundred years, Hartford Seminary has worked toward building interreligious peace and preparing leaders, students, scholars and religious institutions to understand and live faithfully in today’s multi-faith and pluralistic world. The vision statement for the Seminary reads, “By 2025, Hartford Seminary will be the nation’s leading resource for interreligious education, research, and peace studies, providing cutting-edge research and immersive learning opportunities that enable leaders and institutions to thrive in a religiously complex world.” Many members of our SLC community are already quite familiar with Hartford Seminary, having received academic degrees and certificates, as well as life transforming experiences, by taking part in their outstanding programs.
The Spiritual Life Center and Hartford Seminary will collaborate in areas where their visions and missions align. Areas of importance to both organizations include deepening people’s spiritual development, promoting justice and peace, enhancing interreligious dialogue, and meeting the needs of the spiritually independent. This collaboration advances the agenda and strategic plans of both the Spiritual Life Center and the Hartford Seminary. By means of this collaboration we hope to support the creation of a world where people are spiritually awake and engaged.
