Spiritual direction is an ancient practice with roots in many spiritual traditions. In recent times, it has blossomed into a global ministry that serves and embraces peoples of all faiths and walks of life.
At the core of spiritual direction is the art of listening. The spiritual director listens to the life experience of another as that person expresses hope and doubt, joy and sorrow, blessings and limits, the majestic and the mundane.
Through the sharing of the individual’s stories, the spiritual director assists the other to become more awake to the presence of the Holy and more free to respond in compassion and service. The spiritual direction relationship is built on trust and confidentiality is assured.
